Swords, Snakes, and Shipwrecks. Revisited

I’d like to thank everyone who supported me through the republishing of my book Swords, Snakes, and Shipwrecks. I just cashed the check for the royalties and saw the book did a bit better than I expected.

Writing is a strange vocation and it’s one that doesn’t garner a lot of immediate response. Aside from the few copies that went to friends and family, I had no idea how many were sold until I saw the receipts. Now I feel much better, knowing that the book has gotten into people’s hands.

In hindsight it seems that publishing a lavishly illustrated book of Hallowe’en stories aimed at adults was a tough sell to begin with and it made the book just a little bit harder to push. But people have read it, and some have even kept reading this sadly neglected blog. My nagging fear that my stories are being sent out to the void and lost has been lessened.

Thanks again. When I started writing I was writing for myself, as I think all young writers do, but now I write for strangers, and the best feeling is knowing that you (whoever you are) are reading.
