Questioning the Emperor

I recently saw this line from Marcus Aurelius quoted on an inspirational poster (I haven’t bothered trying to authenticate it): “Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking …”

I’m not saying that it isn’t true.  I’m just saying that these are easy words from a man who owned a literal empire
